Bronwyn Thies-Thompson (they/she) is a musician and researcher, currently pursuing their PhD in Religion at Concordia University. Bronwyn maintains a busy performance career, as a classically-trained soprano sought after for their inspired performances, regularly collaborating with the leading early music and contemporary music groups in Canada and abroad. Their “clean and clear voice” and “natural and assured musicianship,” informed by their musical upbringing as a cathedral chorister and instrumentalist, have been appreciated during collaborations with the Tallis Scholars and Dame Emma Kirkby, among others. She has been a featured soloist on film soundtracks for Canada's National Film Board, and on the Juno-nominated disc Four Thousand Winter (2017). Bronwyn's 20-year ongoing practice as a church musician inspires and informs their autoethnographic, creative approach to their research. Their primary research examines the liturgical child choristership traditions in Canada, interrogating how aspects such as childhood professionalism, musical pedagogy, and gender performance operate in relationship with the voice.

Bronwyn Thies-Thompson est musicienne et chercheuse. Elle poursuit actuellement des études doctorales en religion à l'Université Concordia à Montréal, ainsi que sa carrière de soprano. Sa « voix propre et claire » et « sa musicalité confiante et naturelle », acquises durant son apprentissage en tant qu'instrumentiste et choriste à la cathédrale anglicane d’Ottawa, ont été appréciées lors de collaborations avec les Tallis Scholars, les London Handel Players et Emma Kirkby, au sein de petits ensemble ainsi que comme soliste. Ayant prêté sa voix à des bandes sonores pour diverses productions de l'Office national du film du Canada, elle apparaît également sur des albums nommés aux prix Juno avec le Theatre of Early Music et le Trinity Choir. Bronwyn a eu la chance de collaborer avec des compositeurs canadiens tels que Gabriel Dharmoo, Andrew Ager, Tim Brady, et Matthew Larkin. Ses 20 années de pratique continue en tant que musicienne d'église inspirent et éclairent l’approche autoethnographique et créative qu’elle développe dans le cadre académique. Ses recherches se concentrent sur la tradition chorale anglicane canadienne, en explorant des aspects tels que la professionnalisation musicale des enfants, la pédagogie et la performance du genre.
